We have planned to eat at Som’s Noodle House for a long time but all it took was a spontaneous decision to do so. After office, we went to Makati for our late night food trip.
Som’s Noodle House serves Thai dishes and is located at 5921 Alger St. Poblacion, Makati City, near the Dog and Cat Hospital. Before, they are quite hidden since they have their restaurant in a small house, but today, they occupy the lower floor of a building just beside their old place. They have tables inside and outside the place. The counter is inside and you pay as you order. They have provided photo copies of the menu and a tarpaulin of it with pictures. The place is okay but dining out the restaurant means that there are vehicles passing by. Also, the service is not that superb. One of the food we ordered got to us when we were already finished eating. It will also took quite a while for the food to be served. The serving of the dishes are good for several people which is good because we can share.
We got overwhelmed and excited that we ordered a lot of food that night. We had Spring Rolls, Phad Thai, Green Curry, Yellow Curry, Chicken Pandan, Chicken Ginger, Bagoong Fired Rice and Thai Tea.
We had Thai Tea for drinks and it was yummy. It was served in a small mineral water bottle that you need to pour in a glass with ice.
The Spring Roll has a yummy dip but the spring roll itself was a bit tough. It was quite difficult to slice or bite into it.
The Phad Thai was sort of like a pansit but with a different taste. It is quite sour and the toppings it has balances the taste.
The Chicken Pandan was quite big as what I have expected. The three pieces chicken was wrapped in pandan and has a sweet chili dip on the side. The chicken is quite tough and doesn’t has the flavor I am expecting. But with the dip, it was forgivable.
The Chicken Ginger has a lot of vegetable on it. The chicken was topped with different vegetable and mushroom. The sauce it is in is yummy and so is the chicken. It is quite good with rice.
The Bagoong Fried Rice was a complete meal itself. We thought that it was just rice and some mango and scrambled eggs side dish but it also comes with a pork dish on the side. Eating that alone makes you full.
The Green Curry was yummy as well. The curry was delicious with rice but we didn’t enjoy it much because we were already full.
The Yellow Curry wasn’t served until we asked for the remaining food to be brought home. It was quite disappointing since we asked them several times about it but they didn’t serve it. We just took it in the office for next day’s lunch.
The food was okay but the service was not that good. I hope they could improve on it next time. I was just wondering why I didn’t taste spicy foods that night because the last Thai restaurant that I have eaten serves spicy dishes.
