Guimaras Island Hopping

Our second day at Guimaras started with a big announcement courtesy of Ruel and Tanja. We were all happy for the new couple. They were both sleepy since they stayed up late so Joms and I enjoyed the early sunrise.

Ruel found a small boat near our room so he and Joms borrowed it and used it while I watch them from our room. I soon got tired of watching them since it got hot on where I am sitting. I went back in our room and waited for them to get back.

Gail soon called us for breakfast. It was still the leftovers from the party last night but it was still good. We had our breakfast and got ready because we will go to the distant island to buy food for the days ahead.

After eating breakfast and resting for a while, we went to the nearby island with a boat from the resort. It was about 15 minutes before we got to there. There were a lot of fishing boat there and they are all selling their catch that morning. The place was near the island where from afar looks like a large frog. We bought some fish and crabs there for our lunch and dinner for that day. We are expecting Gail’s brother and his friends joining us that day so we bought a great amount of food.

When we got back from our food shopping that morning, Ching, Kuya Oliver and his friends were already there. They had just arrived from Manila. We rested for a while while we wait for the boat that would take us island hopping.

Our agenda for that day is to go island hopping and explore the different scenery of the island. We will start off with a dive at the back of Villa Igang then go visit the turtles in the Turtle Feeding Station, then go to other island to explore it. We planned to end the day at the resort near Villa Corazon. It has a nice shore there and we planned to play Frisbee there.

Since Gail said that the diving board areas is 15 feet deep, I volunteered not to go diving. I brought Tanja’s camera instead and ride the boat that would fetch the others as they dive. I was their official photographer as they jump off the cliff and plunge into the water.

After their dive, which Joms, Tanja and Ruel repeated for fun, we head for our next destination, the Turtle Feeding Station. It was about 15 minutes till we got to a small island like place made with bamboo. It was like fish pens at the center of the waters.

We went there and registered so that we could view the turtles. It costs about P5 or P10 per person but unfortunately, we forgot to bring money. We borrowed some to the bangkero and he was kind enough to lend us some.

We get to hold a big turtle there. He was really heavy but it was a nice experience holding one. Each one of us get to hold the turtle for at least a few seconds before they return him to the waters. It was really nice having that experience and it makes you appreciate the creatures that needs to be protected because they are getting endangered.

After the Turtle Feeding Station, we went back to the boat and continued our sight seeing. We were supposed to enter a cave when the waves got stronger. We attempted to get inside but the boat’s sides couldn’t fit the cave’s entrance and so we went back. It was alright since we get to enter at least a small portion of it. and we continued our journey.

We saw the different rock formations and islands of Guimaras and it was really amazing. It was as if a long long time ago, the whole island is a big coral reef and as time passed by, the water level went down and the island emerged. It was rocks all over that island. There are only a few portions with sandy shore.

When the waves are getting stronger, and it was getting noon, we decided to go back to Villa Igang to have lunch.

We had Fried Fish, Steamed Crabs and Fish Sinigang for lunch. The resort staff was kind enough to cook the fishes we bought earlier. It was a nice filling lunch for all of us. After that we rested for a while. We planned to swim at the other beach when the sun isn’t that hot.

At about 4pm, we all went to Raymen Beach Resort to swim. We paid P10 each for the entrance fee. We waited for sunset there while Joms and Ruel play Frisbee. It was nice to relax there and take pictures. We had fun playing and hanging out with each other.

When the sun had set, we returned to Villa Igang to take a bath and eat dinner. We wera all so tired after eating that we quickly went to sleep. That wrapped up our second day at Guimaras.
